It’s been a scorcher here in the UK this week—which is not typical for this time of year and still enough to make the training shed feel like a sauna. Despite the heat, it’s actually been a solid week for getting back into a rhythm, for training as a whole havin comleted 1 indoor ride, 3 Crossfit sessions and 1 Crossfit PT even if I haven’t quite hit the targets I set for myself i’m continuing to move my training volume up and i’m feeling the positive benefits.
I’ll be honest—I didn’t get as much time on the bike as I wanted, especially earlier in the week. Life gets in the way sometimes, but I’m staying focused on building consistency. For me, that means gradually reinforcing my training routine so it becomes second nature, rather than something I have to constantly will myself into.
One highlight this week was tackling the Ignite session on Saturday—a tough but rewarding 30-minute ride that burned around 200 calories with a workout load effort of 68.

Not a massive burn, but it felt good to push through it, especially after a a tought week of bank holiday workouts that left me feeling a little sore. These shorter, intense workouts are ideal for days when motivation is low or time is tight and you just want to get the blood flowing.
Looking ahead, I’m aiming to get at least two cycling sessions in this. I’ve also been toying with the idea of incorporating more endurance work—particularly focused on building power and longevity into my rides and cardio. I’ve noticed some of my limitations on the bike stem from a lack of endurance, so targeting this area could really elevate my performance in the long run.
One new approach I’m committing to is running a monthly fitness test on Zwift. It’s a great way to track progress and see how I’m developing across different performance metrics. At the moment, I’m riding in Category D, but I’ve got my sights set on gradually moving up through the ranks.
If you’re on Zwift, look out for the TIC The Indoor Cycling Club—that’s the tag to follow. Feel free to join me on a ride or connect with the group and join us. I’d love to hear how your training’s going too.
Until next time—stay cool, stay consistent, and keep those pedals turning.
