Zwift Alpha on Tempus Fugit - indoor cycling

WK4: Zwift Alpha Ride Review; Diet Tweaks & New Challenges

Training and Eating Healthier

This past week has been about consistency, keeping things simple but effective. The main highlight was Saturday’s session on the Alpha route on Zwift’s Tempus Fugit. A 15 km effort over 30 minutes, burning 226 calories. It had a great mix of segments—different intensities, recovery blocks, and solid efforts to test how well I could hold power under pressure. It felt purposeful, and by the end, I understood why they call it “Alpha.” It’s a strong session, one I’d definitely recommend to anyone looking for a solid workout without spending hours on the bike.

On the diet side, there’s room for improvement. I’m hovering around the 14-stone mark, and I can feel the difference that makes during tougher efforts. It’s not about extreme dieting, but I do want to be more mindful. Recently, I’ve been eating a couple of bags of crisps a day and some casual snacking—seeds and nuts too which are way too calorific. I’m not cutting everything out, but I want to rein things in and focus more on fueling for performance rather than habit. The aim is balance—not restriction, just smarter choices.

Things I’ve Learned / Discovered

One of the more exciting things I discovered this week was a set of climbs “Climb Section” on Zwift that I hadn’t noticed before. They simulate some of the most challenging routes from around the world—proper bucket-list stuff. I’m definitely going to start exploring these. The fact that they can be scaled based on fitness levels is ideal—it means I can ease into them and build confidence before tackling the full climbs. It’s the kind of challenge I’ve been missing.

Resources You May LIke

I’ve also been finding a lot of value in the weekly updates from Zwift Insider. Their emails are great for keeping up with new workouts, route guides, and tips from the community. Staying plugged into that has helped keep me motivated and aware of what’s out there to try.

All in all, a positive week. Legs feel worked, mindset’s focused, and I’ve got a fresh challenge lined up with these climbs. Looking forward to seeing how far I can push things over the next few weeks.

Until next, keep on cycling!
